At Youth Conservation Corps (YCC), we’re driven by a shared question: What’s your WHY?

For Rei, a YCC member who joined our construction staff, it’s simple: "I am here for new opportunities and the chance to finish what I started - my high school diploma and building a house."

For Rafael, a Waukegan Park District partner, it’s personal: “I’ve been in the members’ place, and I know what it means when someone believes in you.”

For Dan, YCC’s construction foreman, it’s the moment “the light bulb goes on and members realize what they’re capable of.”

These stories, and hundreds like them, remind us why YCC’s work matters. But as federal and state funding priorities shift, local programs like ours rely more than ever on people who believe in the power of opportunity, hard work, and community.

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to reflect on your own WHY(CC) and make a gift that helps young people in Lake County learn, earn, and give back. Our goal is to raise $40,000 to expand opportunities for youth to build brighter futures while caring for the environment. Your donation supports hands-on job training, education, and mentorship that open doors to lasting success.

Together, we can ensure that YCC remains a constant source of hope, opportunity, and progress.
